Was This 1986 Thrash Classic The Highwater Mark For Megadeth
Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?is the second album by Megadeth, released on September 19, 1986, by Capitol Records. The LP was supposed to be released by Combat Records, but Dave Mustaine in his quest to get as big as “rival band” Metallica.
Bonded by Blood is the debut studio album by the Bay Area thrash metal band Exodus. Although the album was completed in the summer of 1984, it was not released until 1985 due to issues with Exodus and their record label. It is considered one of the most influential thrash metal albums ever. It is also the only full-length studio album of Exodus to feature Paul Baloff on vocals, though he was also on their 1982 Demo. Baloff was back in Exodus for five years (from 1997 to his death in 2002), and appeared on their 1997 live album Another Lesson in Violence.
In 2008, Exodus re-recorded Bonded by Blood and re-released it as Let There Be Blood, featuring a new line-up of members aside from drummer Tom Hunting and guitarist Gary Holt who played on the original. (Source: WIKIPEDIA)

Morbid Visions is the debut studio album by Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura, released on November 10, 1986, by Cogumelo Records. While later albums have a more political edge, Morbid Visions (along with the Bestial Devastation EP) is notable for “Satanic” themes. The band said many of the lyrics were modeled on those of Venom and Celtic Frost (note the similarity of the album title to Morbid Tales). (Source: WIKIPEDIA)
The legacy of Morbid Visions
When asked about the Legacy of Morbid Visions, this is all Igor Cavalera had to say:
Interviewer: Morbid Visions is a legendary record, not just because of Jairo T.’s afro, but also because of how raw and Neanderthal-like the production is. Did you set out to make it sound that raw?
Igor: [Laughs] Jairo’s fro was epic! The reality is that we were trying to record extreme music in a country where no studios ever recorded this kind of crap before, so its sound was pure instinct. (Source)

Possessed by Fire is the first album by the German thrash metal band Exumer. It was released on November 8, 1986 through obscure German thrash metal label Disaster Records. This album was a cult classic in the day – honestly, the music doesn’t really stand up today. If you liked it back in the day, you may still enjoy it now through.

ANOTHER OBSCURE GERMAN THRASH BAND FROM THE 80S THAT HAS REFORMED RECENTLY
Lineup:
Mem Von Stein – Bass,Vocals. Bernie Siedler – Guitar. Ray Mensch – Guitar. Syke Bornetto – Drums.
Endless Pain was the debut LP by German thrash metal legends Kreator. The production on the original was very raw and unpolished. The band was obviously very young and clearly imitating other early extreme metal bands like Venom.
Endless Pain was released in 1985 on Noise Records.
Millie Petrozza and Ventor are both “lead singers” on the album.
The album is classified as black metal or thrash metal, as it combines elements of both, along with the sloppiness and aggression of early punk and hardcore.
Endless Pain Jacket, Vinyl, and Artwork
The retro popularity of the album, along with the rebound in interest in thrash metal vinyl, makes Endless Pain a frequent target of bootleggers, as there are several “unofficial” versions out there, none of which the band receives royalties from. This is what the art should look like.

Overkill’s First Journey Into “Major Label Success”
Taking Over is the second album by Overkill. It was released in 1987 on Atlantic/Megaforce in the US and Noise International in Europe. The album is Overkill’s last with drummer Rat Skates. He left the band in 1987 and was replaced by Sid Falck. Taking Over was the first major label release on Atlantic. Overkill remained on Atlantic up to W.F.O. (1994).
Some Fun “Taking Over” Facts
It was Overkill’s first release to chart, reaching position 191 on the Billboard 200, and included classics like “Wrecking Crew” and “In Union We Stand” which still played at nearly every Overkill show.
Rat Skates decided to leave the band shortly after touring to support the album, citing several creative differences.
Bob “Sid” Falck, a former member of Paul Dianno’s band, would replace him. The band stopped touring and only played locally around New Jersey and New York. They also began to wring new material together.
Original Artwork and Bootlegging
Because of the popularity of this release, it is highly bootlegged on eBay, Discogs, and other online marketplaces. I have provided for you refernce some pictures of what the original Megaforce artwork should look like.

Hirax, Katon W. De Pena, Raging Violence and Beyond
Raging Violence was the first official Hirax album, Metal Blade, which appeared with their first full-length in 1985. Hirax was Katon W. De Pena (vocals), Scott Owen (guitar), Gary Monardo (bass), and John Tabares (drums).
In 1986, John Tabares left the band and was replaced by Eric Brecht (D.R.I’s vocalist Kurt Brecht’s brother). After that, they released a second LP, “Hate, Fear, and Power” (16 minutes / eight tunes). Later, the band released the live album “Blasted In Bangkok” in 1987.
Be that as it may, with strains and frustrations in the band, De Pena chose to leave and form another group with Gene Hoglan (former Dark Angel drummer), and Ron McGovney (former Metallica bassist). They called themselves Phantasm. After a brief tour with Nuclear Assault, they separated. In 1989, after De Pena left Phantasm, the substitution was Paul Baloff (former Exodus frontman), not long after the band split.
The band “reformed” in 2013 with Katon W. De Pena, the only original member, and continues to record and tour to this day

Everything You Wanted To Know About Whiplash But Were Afraid To Ask….
Whiplash was for sure one of those metal bands that should have been bigger. Instead, the band still plays shows from time to time.
All three members of the classic lineup were named “Tony.”
Drummer Tony Scaglione was in Slayer briefly. If you blinked, you might have missed it. He didn’t record with the band.
Bassist Tony Bono died at 38 years old due to a heart attack.
Peter Steele from Carnivore / Type O Negative did backing vocals on this album.
Singer/guitarist Tony Portaro can read music (not just tablature)
