Five Original Handwritten Letters by Per Yngve “Dead” Ohlin (Mayhem) – Extremely rare opportunity to acquire six original, handwritten letters by Per Yngve Ohlin — better known as Dead, the legendary and tragic vocalist of Mayhem.

These letters date from 1989–1991, the exact period of Dead’s involvement with Mayhem and the final years of his life. They come with strong provenance: originally left in the Kråkstad house, later obtained by Stian (who briefly played bass in Mayhem in 1991), and accompanied by a detailed Certificate of Authenticity. Several of the letters include original hand-drawn artwork executed in colored pens (red, yellow, black).

This is not a photocopy, reprint, or later reproduction. These are genuine period pieces written by Dead himself — material that has remained largely unseen and unpublished. For serious collectors of Norwegian black metal history, early Mayhem, and the personal artifacts of the second wave’s most iconic and haunted figure, items of this caliber almost never surface.

Dead’s correspondence offers a direct window into his mindset during the most formative and intense years of the scene: the isolation, the death obsession, the occult interests, and the uncompromising attitude that helped define Mayhem’s early identity. Owning original handwritten material from him is as close as it gets to holding a primary document of black metal history.
