Endless Pain was the debut LP by German thrash metal legends Kreator. The production on the original was very raw and unpolished. The band was obviously very young and clearly imitating other early extreme metal bands like Venom.
Endless Pain was released in 1985 on Noise Record.
Millie Petrozza and Ventor are both “lead singer” on the album.
The album is classified as black metal or thrash metal, as it combines element of both, along with the slopyness and agression of early punk and hardcore.
Endless Pain Jacket, Vinyl and Artwork
The retro popularity of the album along with the rebound in interest in thrash metal vinylmake Endless Pain a frequent target of bootleggers, as there are server “unofficial” versions out there, none of which the band receives royalties from. This is what the art should look like.
Overkill’s First Journey Into “Major Label Success”
Taking Over is the second album by Overkill. It was released in 1987 on Atlantic/Megaforce in the US and Noise International in Europe. The album is Overkill’s last with drummer Rat Skates. He left the band in 1987 and was replaced by Sid Falck. Taking Over was the first major label release on Atlantic. Overkill remained on Atlantic up to W.F.O. (1994).
Some Fun “Taking Over” Facts
It was Overkill’s first release to chart, reaching position 191 on the Billboard 200, and included classics like “Wrecking Crew” and “In Union We Stand” which still played at nearly every Overkill show.
Rat Skates decided to leave the band shortly after touring to support the album, citing several creative differences.
Bob “Sid” Falck, a former member of Paul Dianno’s band, would replace him. The band stopped touring and only played locally around New Jersey and New York. They also began to wring new material together.
Original Artwork and Bootlegging
Because of the popularity of this release, it is highly bootlegged on eBay, Discogs, and other online marketplaces. I have provided for you refernce some pictures of what the original Megaforce artwork should look like.

Hirax, Katon W. De Pena, Raging Violence and Beyond
Raging Violence was the first official Hirax album Metal Blade and appeared with their first full-length, “Raging Violence” in 1985. Hirax was Katon W. De Pena (vocals), Scott Owen (guitar), Gary Monardo (bass) and John Tabares (drums).
In 1986, John Tabares left the band and was replaced by Eric Brecht (D.R.I’s. vocalist Kurt Brecht brother). After, they released a 2nd LP “Hate, Fear, and Power” (16 minutes / eight tunes). Later, the band released the live album “Blasted In Bangkok” in 1987.
Be that as it may, with strains and frustrates in the band, De Pena chose to leave and frame another group with Gene Hoglan (previous Dark Angel drummer), and Ron McGovney (former Metallica bassist). They called themselves Phantasm. After a brief tour with Nuclear Assault, they separated. In 1989, after De Pena left Phantasm, the substitution was Paul Baloff (former Exodus frontman), not long after the band separated.
The band “reformed” in 2013 with Katon w. De Pena being the only original member and continue to record and tour to this day

Unstoppable Force is the second album from the US speed metal band Agent Steel. It was recorded at Morrisound Recording Studios in Tampa, Florida, in March 1986.
Combat Records released the album in March 1987. The 1999 reissue by Century Media Records is a compilation of the Mad Locust Rising EP. Some later reissues exclude the cover version of the Judas Priest song “The Ripper”. Unstoppable Force was the last album before the band split up in 1988, only to reform in 1998 without John Cyriis and his consent for the release of the 1999 album Omega Conspiracy. Source: Wikipedia

Hell Awaits is the second album by Slayer. It was released in March 1985 on Metal Blade Records. It is metal heresy to say this, but Hell Awaits is my favorite Slayer album. Most fans consider “Riegn In Blood” to be the bands high watermark. I’ve bought a copy the day it came out. You can see pictures of the actual album in this post.
Some Interesting “Hell Awaits” Facts You Might Not Know
The album was mixed in one night.
Around that time, Kerry King’s hair was thinning. He came into practice one night wearing a hairpiece. He was ostracized by the band. This led to his trademark shaved head look.
The demonic growls in the intro of the album say, “Join Us” if you play it backward. The final phrase, which is not backward but is pitch shifted says “Welcome Back“
“Hell Awaits” was the first album a record company put up the budget to release. Show No Mercy was self-financed by the band, largely because Tom Araya had a good job at a hospital.
These days, the band considers the production of the album to be quite poor. When asked if they would ever record or re-master it, Tom says “No, that was a snapshot of where we were in our career at the time.”
“God Hates Us All” is the bans least favorite album. They consider the production on “Hell Awaits” to be superior.
All of the music and the lyrics were written by Jeff Hannemann and Kerry King. Tom Araya did not contribute lyrically until the “South of Heaven” album.
