Way back a long time ago, before Anvil was best known for a movie made about them: Anvil was in a tremendously influential, “proto-thrash” band. Crack the Skye is the fourth studio Atlanta prog-metal band Mastodon. It is both their highest best album to date and held in the highest regard by critics and fans.
Since Mastodon put out several subsequent albums. Crack the Skye (as of this blog post) is now 10 years old. Their follow up follow-up efforts have all been good, but no Crack The Skye.

On this one, you have to understand the reference. It is a lampoon on the documentary “Faces Of Meth” which chronicles what people look like before and after methamphetamine use. As you can see, death metal is a gateway drug to court paint and just for a less harmless.
It’s a classic metal meme with Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King chomping some burgers before a show. You may be metal, but not half as much as Slayer’s guitar team.
