90% of the records in this collection are newer reissues in NM/NM, about 70% came sealed, and the remaining 10% consisted of vintage pressings from the 1980s. A full list of everything included is in the spreadsheet embedded below.
The seller did a decent job packing the records for shipping, but not perfect. He used the box-in-box method, but he did not use enough packing materials, which caused some corner beads. Many albums were downgraded to “sealed but NM” due to the damage to the jackets.
The Highlights
While most of my readers and YouTube viewers get much more excited about some of the mega-rare vintage collections I buy, many rare/expensive albums are in the collection, mostly due to limited color variants, out-of-print status, or lack of availability.

A collector contacted me a few months ago and sent me a list of everything they had for sale. To determine the price, they sent me a list of the titles and a few example photos that were somewhat deceptive to represent the grading of the CDs. I’m sharing more on this below.
How The CDs Were Described
Actuality of Most
Some had mold
Pricing / Shipping Method
We agreed on a price ($3200 + shipping costs) and had to figure out a shipping method from the UK. Typically, shipping from Europe via FedEx or UPS is the least expensive. DHL is the best choice for shipping from England, though prices have risen quite a bit for their already costly service. The value of the Euro to the dollar is less lopsided than it used to be, with the exchange rate hovering near 1 for 1 now, making it a buyer’s market if you are in the US.
I sent the money via PayPal, and the seller shipped the collection out the next day.
Issues
Sadly, when the collection arrived, it became clear that the example photos of the CDs did not represent the vast majority of the collection. 70% came covered in mold and quite scratched. I contacted the seller, but they seemed uninterested in fixing the problem. I considered disputing through PayPal because this sale is covered by buyer protection. Ultimately, I did not dispute it once it was put for sale because I saw I could make a decent return. Luckily, the record grading was better than described.

There were a couple of stand-out things about this collection.
Rare Unofficial Iron Maiden CDs
The first was a crazy selection of sealed Iron Maiden bootlegs. Ten CDs recorded from the Legacy of The Beast Tour 2019 in various cities were sealed, and some very impressive artwork included that I could have sworn was painted by Derek Riggs himself.
Unfortunately, these Iron Maiden CDs are unofficial and can’t be sold in my eBay store, but you can pick them up from me directly if you contact me. I will give you a great deal on the whole lot.
Rare Blackmoon Records Black Metal CD
Next up is the extremely rare Blackmoon Records from Poland. Like the Iron Maiden, all of these CDs are technically “unofficial,” but you can get away with selling these on eBay because of bands like Horna, Moonblood, and Sargeist. One interesting thing about Moonblood is that even though they are a legendary black metal band, everything they released until 2014 was a bootleg of demo recordings.
When I was a kid, my parents only listened to very lame music like Barbra Streisand. Props to this guy for listening to some very based black metal and killer Iron Maiden. While it is very sad that this true metal warrior has moved on to Valhalla, his music will live on.
Do You Have A Collection Like This To Sell?
I am always looking to buy collections like this, no matter where you are in the Uniited States or the world.
In the video below are some highlights from a collection of death metal, goregrind, pornogrind, and cyberbrind CDs I bought from a collector in Seattle. I had to cut the video short and edit it for YouTube to keep my channel from getting a strike because of the graphic nature of some of these covers.
For those unaware, goregrind is an offshoot of death metal initially pioneered by UK’s Carcass. It existed as an extreme sub-genre of death metal before breaking off into even more extreme sub-genres such as goregrind and pornogrind by bands like Meatshits, Lividity, Anal Blast, and Waco Jesus.
Collection Highlights
Here are some of the rare and valuable CDs in this collection. I decided to use the censored photos to avoid getting this blog in hot water with the powers at Google.

These albums were sent through DHL, arrived quickly, andwere well-packed. All are original pressings in VG+ condition or better. I will highlight some of the better items below.

In no particular order…
The Shining (Original Soundtrack) LP
The Shining (Original Soundtrack) LP 1980 Warner Bros WB 56 827 [GERMANY] VG+/EX – While this album is only metal-adjacent, it isn’t cheap. Despite its simple-looking 2-color art, this classic 1980 horror film soundtrack can easily fetch over $200.

I always look to buy collections like this and pay handsomely for them. Please contact me at the info below if you have one.

The following is a list of the top 50 titles, as ranked by number of sales for 2023.

Black Flag – My War LP 2020 SST Records – SST 023 [SEALED]
Below are some highlights from a relatively small collection of CDs I bought from a private collector.
Even though this black and death metal CD collection is much smaller than the ones I usually get, I paid the guy $700 for it because a few rare/valuable CDs were included. Some of the conditions of the playing surfaces of some discs could have been better.
I am only interested in VG and up when buying metal CD collections. Many people think that “if the CD will play all the way through without skipping” means it is in very good condition, but this is not true. CDs with significant marks become worth substantially less and lose much resale value. If you want to grade your CDs, more information can be found here.
Highlights From This Collection
The entries below contain info about some of the more valuable CDs in the collection and their corresponding values.
The Black Dahlia Murder – A Cold-Blooded Epitaph CD
The Black Dahlia Murder – A Cold-Blooded Epitaph CD 2002 Lovelost Records – LL01 is one of the most expensive CDs I bought in ANY collection. A Cold-Blooded Epitaph was Black Dahlia Murder’s self-released debut. In years since 2002, the band has ascended to legendary status in the deathcore community, making this CD a rare find.
Value: $300
Black Dawn – Blood For Satan CD

Value: $80
Tribulation – The Formulas Of Death CD

Have A Collection Like This To Sell?
I am always in the market to acquire new collections. If you have one to sell, contact me using the information below.
In the video below is a small portion of over 2500 metal CDs I just bought. Almost all are near-mint, over half are rare Japanese pressings, and many are sealed.
It was my understanding that the father died way too young, at the age of 60. What is remarkable about this collection is it spans the entire length of the genre, from Black Sabbath to bands that came out in the last few years.
Using PayPal and Trust
This transaction was a five-figure deal. Often, I am asked how I feel comfortable buying collections like this sight unseen and how buyers can feel comfortable working with me. I do all of these out-of-state deals through PayPal as goods and services. I pay the seller in full before their mailing. Paying upfront locks me into the agreement and assures the seller I’m a man of my word.
When you use PayPal as “goods and services,” you are allowing PayPal to act as an impartial referee. It creates a type of escrow between you and the seller. If something goes wrong, you can open a dispute inside PayPal, and they will sort it out. I have only had to do this once in hundreds of transactions. It’s good to know that 99% of people are honest.
Using PayPal insures both parties should it get lost in the mail or damaged because of improper packing or postal abuse.
PayPal sometimes holds for a few days before releasing them, but it usually does not. Fees go to the seller at 2.9%, which is quite reasonable.
Great Features In This Collection
All Japanese CDs in this collection are still factory-sealed with the OBI strip, genuinely “near mint.”Many are in SHM-CD format. SHM is a specialized audiophile format for which you need a Japanese SHM CD player, but it will normally play on a standard player.
Most of the non-import versions of the CDs are the deluxe collector versions that frequently include extra tracks, patches, and bonus tracks.
Regardless of value, every CD in this collection is housed in plastic collector sleeves.
That is all for this blog post; I will have to spread this out among a few posts because of the size of this collection.
Do You Have a Record or CD Collection You Want To Sell?
I am always looking to buy collections like this. Contact me at the information below if you have one to sell.
I am guilty of spending more time in these blog posts covering the crazy vinyl collectionsI buy, never highlighting any awesome CD collections I acquire. I am picking up nearly ten CD collections for every vinyl collection I buy, yet I rarely feature them. That all changes with this month’s blog update.
The video below features a quick tour of a collection of nearly 1,000 heavy, death, and thrash metal CDs I bought from a collector in South Carolina. While many of these CDs are pretty common stuff you see frequently, there were definitely some gems in there.
Some CDs had more scratches than I would have liked, and quite a few club/BMG discs were in there. All in all, I’m happy with this purchase. At least the seller packed the CDs really well.
The Gems
Here is a list of some of the better discs in this collection.
Cannibal Corpse – Tomb of the Mutilated CD
Cannibal Corpse – Tomb of the Mutilated CD 1992 Metal Blade – 3984-14003-2 – This CD has ben reissued many times, but if you have the original 1992 press, it’s worth something.
Value: $60
Psychosomatic – Clicking Sound Of A Hammer Pulled Back CD
Psychosomatic – Clicking Sound Of A Hammer Pulled Back CD 2015 Buriedinhell – While this album is only a few years old, this new-school thrash classic sold out so quickly that the value has already skyrocketed.
Value: $50
Hallows Eve – History of Terror CD/DVD
Hallows Eve – History of Terror CD/DVD 2006 Metal Blade 3984-14565-2 [4 CD Set] – This 4 CD/DVD compilation from one of my favorite Where Are They Now? heavy metal band Hallows Eve. This Atlanta thrash metal group was one of the greatest bands that never made it.
Value: $50
Vio-Lence – Oppressing The Masses CD
Vio-Lence – Oppressing The Masses CD 1990 Atlantic – 7 82105-2 [ORIGINAL PRESS] – Vio-Lence was one of the “lucky” bands in the late 80s to get signed to a major label. Due to management problems, Vio-lence got dropped from the Atlantic. Oppressing The Masses was never reissued, and it is unavailable on streaming.
Value: $50
This collection has many other great titles, but I will leave it here for now.
Do You Have A CD Collection Live This To Sell?
I am constantly in the market to buy new collections. Hit me up at the info below if you have one.
In the video below is a collection I bought from a collector in Arizona through the mail. Most of the records are newer pressings and reissues, but many out-of-print/limited edition gems are in there, and some are already worth decent money.
In the section below, I have included info about some of the standout pieces in this collection.
Beastie Boys – Polly Wog Stew 7″
Beastie Boys – Polly Wog Stew 7″ EP 1982 Rat Cage Records – MOTR 21 VG+/VG+ – This EP was by far the most expensive piece in this collection. When you see copies of this album, they are primarily represses that came out in the early 90s after the Beastie Boys were already famous. This 7″ is the original 1982 pressing and is worth a ton. The condition is excellent and on the high end of VG+.
Value = $395
Cryptic Slaughter – Money Talks LP
Cryptic Slaughter – Money Talks LP 1987 Restless – 72204-1 [Original Sealed!] – The second album from the Califonia thrashers that played so fast they heavily influenced grindcore. This copy is sealed with hype stickers and is in nearly perfect condition. Someone must have liked it because it sold instantly.
Value = $99.95 [Sold]
Polkadot Cadaver – Purgatory Dance Party LP
Polkadot Cadaver – Purgatory Dance Party LP 2021 Razor To Wrist [White & Violet] – Polkadot Cadaver formed from Serj Tankian’s Dog Fashion Disco remains. Everything by this band is sold out and is extremely hard to find. This sealed LP may be the only copy available for sale online.
Value = $149.95

Belphegor – Bondage Goat Zombie LP 2008 Nuclear Blast NB 2086-1 [Red] NM/NM *DE – Very rare 1st press on red vinyl, numbered and strictly limited to 1000 copies.

Rivers of Nihil – Where Owls Know My Name LP
Rivers of Nihil – Where Owls Know My Name LP 2018 Metal Blade [1st Press Sealed] – All copies of this album sold out in 2018 and have not yet been reissued, making the originals worth a pretty penny.

Value = $99.95
