Ebay has gone to war with NSBM (National Socialist Black Metal). I distribute a small number of titles, including Grand Belial’s Key for Weltenfeind Records. By and large, eBay has been allowing sales of various “NSBM” bands, such as Goatmoon, Grand Belial’s Key, and Vothana.
While eBay has always targeted certain bands like Burzum (because of Varg’s politics, not lyrical content), Absurd, and Der Sturmer, it has allowed sales of some bands that are less in-your-face or have no overt Nazi imagery.
That has all changed. Grand Belial’s Key is now persona non grata on eBay. Say what you like about the band’s politics, you can’t argue that the riffs aren’t divine! No wonder they are a top seller with so many black metal fans!
Screenshot
Ebay has either been taken over by Antifa or is running some type of AI that is going crazy flagging listings for anything further right than Creedence Clearwater Revival. An innocuous copy of Death In June was recently triggered by the “offensive music filter” as Nazi, even though it’s 80’s synth pop. I guess the little skull-and-crossbones cartoon on the cover was too much for it.
EBay’s Offensive Music Policy Specifics
Below is the verbiage of eBay’s offensive music policy:
A simple read of this would apply to all black/death metal and extreme metal bands, as religion is a common target for most extreme bands. Although nobody seems to get their feather ruffled when it is Christians who are being targeted.
It’s pretty clear that things will not get better from here. It won’t be long before bands with even tertiary associations with NSBM, like MGLA or Deathspell Omega, are on the out list.
What Are We Going To Do?
We are in the process of pulling all of our more controversial listings from Ebay and moving them to our online store. While this will be a lot of work, there are quite a few upsides:
No more censorship. We decide what we want to sell.
Our prices will be lower. Ebay takes 20% of our money. We will pass those savings on to you.
The same great free, fast shipping, and customer service at a lower price.
Screenshot
It will take some time for our new store to be completely stocked. By no means do we intend for it just to be a clearinghouse for NSBM, but we have to start somewhere.
Check out our new online store below.
We are taking orders now. We ship every day, Mon-Friday!
A few months ago, a collector in New Jersey hit me up about a small- to medium-sized black metal CD collection he was looking to sell. I asked him a basic question about it. He asked if I bought cassettes or other metal swag, which I do. He added some cassettes and black metal tapestries to what he was selling, and I added some money to the deal.
When it came to shipping, there was a small misunderstanding about how to use USPS Media Mail, so I gave him a quick call to walk him through it. During that phone call, it became obvious to me that the seller was Black. Of course, race doesn’t matter to me, but you’ll see how this plays into the story next.
It had been a bit of time since I fished the quote on this collection. When it arrived, I totally forgot how much NSBM was in it, including such “racist” bands as Goatmoon, Grand Belial’s Key, Clandestine Blaze, and others. I do not censor or “cancel” bands based on ideology and sell everything from the furthest left (Dead Kennedys, Aus Rotten) to the hardest of the right (Dark Fury, Der Sturmer).
Highlights From This Collection
There was a lot of great stuff in this collection, but here are some of the highlights.
Satanic Warmaster / Archgoat – Lux Satanae CD
Satanic Warmaster / Archgoat – Lux Satanae CD 2016 Hells Headbangers – HELLS130 – This split with Satanic Warmaster and Archgoat is easily one of the most sought-after black metal CDs released in the last ten years. I’m not sure why Hell’s Headbangers hasn’t repressed/reissued this release, since they could be selling thousands of these things. The limited quantity works for me because it caused aftermarket prices to skyrocket.
Value = $100
Immortal – Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism CD
Immortal – Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism CD 1992 Osmose OPCD 007 [1st Press] *FR – This CD has been reissued many times, and most pressings aren’t worth that much. In light of how big Immortal would eventually become in the black metal world, first pressings are worth a bunch. The disc itself contains “Made in Germany” and “GEMA” markings, which are not present on any other pressings. The 5th track is misspelled on the disc and back cover (“Cold Winds Of Feneral Dust”). In the booklet, the printed title is the correct one (Cold Winds Of Funeral Dust).
Value = $70
Cephalotripsy – Epigenetic Neurogenesis CD
Cephalotripsy – Epigenetic Neurogenesis CD 2024 Self-Released [Rare] – Pictured is the first pressing of this release. The second press in the Japanese issue. According to the band, it is limited to 500 copies. While this is a very recent release, it’s already worth money due to its limited quantity.
Value = $63
Death – Scream Bloody Gore CD
Death – Scream Bloody Gore CD 1987 Combat – 88561-8146-2 [2ND PRESS] – There are two pressings from 1987. The second press (pictured above) has a tracklist laid out with no “Side 1/Side 2”. The actual first pressing has a track listing laid out like the vinyl (pictured below). Both are from 1987.
Value = $63
Goatmoon – Stella Polaris CD
Goatmoon – Stella Polaris CD 2017 Werewolf Records – EVIL-039 [1st Press Etched] – First pressing with etched CD case. Subsequent pressings do not include etching.
Value = $50
Abysmal Lord -Disciples of the Inferno CD
Abysmal Lord -Disciples of the Inferno CD 2015 Hells Headbangers – hells 165 – This is another recent release. Because Hell’s Headbangers never reissues anything, the aftermarket prices are through the roof.
Check out the video below to see one of my best finds ever. I picked up a collection of more than 2,300 super-rare black and death metal CDs from a collector in Oregon.
A few months ago, the seller got in touch and sent me photos of over 2,000 CDs he had collected. The pictures gave me a good idea of the music styles and years. About 80% of it was black metal from the late 1990s to around 2012. Some of the labels were JBL America, No Fashion, Head Not Hound, Osmose, and No Colours, among others. There were virtually no major-label releases of stuff like Van Halen, System of a Down, or Iron Maiden. From his description, I could tell he had some great stuff, so I offered $8,000 to buy the collection, and he agreed.
I left Los Angeles around 10 PM the night before, drove up to Lodi, and checked into a hotel. Lodi seems like a small, quiet town, but there are quite a few homeless people and drug users around. I was a little worried that my truck might get broken into.
The next morning, we met near the interstate. We chatted for a few minutes, and I took a quick look through the CDs in the bins. I agreed to pay him and sent the money through Venmo, since we weren’t doing the deal by mail. We didn’t have to worry about PayPal’s buyer protection because we were handling everything in person.
I didn’t get a chance to look through the CDs until I got home, and was amazed by how many rare albums I found. There were lots of first pressings from Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone, and plenty of other lesser-known bands that are just as valuable.
You’ll notice there was also a fair amount of NSBM in the collection. I don’t get too worked up about black metal bands with extreme views. I believe in free speech and carry releases from all sides, from the far left to the far right. Honestly, when you listen to a black metal CD, you usually can’t make out the lyrics, and you wouldn’t know if it was NSBM or a Christian band unless you already knew the band.
The collection was so big that I couldn’t fit everything into one video for my YouTube channel, so I split it into two parts. I still haven’t had time to go through everything, and have about half left to sort through.
The Highlights
There was a ton of amazing stuff in this haul. Here are some of the highlights.
Burzum – Aske CD
Burzum – Aske CD 1993, Deathlike Silence Productions – anti-mosh 005 – This CD was in the collection and in perfect condition. It is easily the most valuable CD I’ve ever acquired. Pictured above is a first pressing of Burzum’s “Aske” on DeathLike Silence Records from 1995. The runout matrix on the back of the disc is correct (DURECO [01] ANTIMOSH CD 5.
Value $1000
Enslaved – Vikingligr Veldi CD
Enslaved – VikValue $1000ingligr Veldi CD 1994 Deathlike Silence Anti Mosh 008 – Here is another big one also on Deathlike Silence records. The real first pressings of the CD are virtually identical to the represses. However, the first pressings do not include a barcode (pictured above).
Value $250
Old Man’s Child – Born Of The Flickering CD
Old Man’s Child – Born Of The Flickering CD 1996 Hot Records – SHAGRATH 003 – The debut album by the newly reformed Old Man’s Child on the now-defunct Hot Records is extremely rare. Born of the Flickering has been repressed and reissued many times, but the originals fetch a pretty penny.
Value $200
Dimmu Borgir – For All Tid CD
Dimmu Borgir – For All Tid CD 1995 No Colours Records NC 003 – “For All Tid” is Dimmu Borgir’s debut album and has been repressed 1 million times by a host of different record labels. The original German No Colours release is the one you want, goes for a ton, and doesn’t sit on the shelf for long.
Value $150
Under a Funeral Moon – Darkthrone CD
Under a Funeral Moon – Darkthrone CD 1993 Peaceville – Vile 35CD [1st Press] *UK – another CD that has 1 million different versions, the most valuable of which is the first UK pressing. You can tell by the back cover pictured above.
Value $150
Darkthrone – Transilvanian Hunger CD
Darkthrone – Transilvanian Hunger CD 1994 Fierce Recordings – 9086-11060-2 – first pressing US contained the now infamous phrase “Norsk Arisk Black Metal” which translates from Norwegian into “pure Aryan black metal”. This caused some controversy and was removed on subsequent pressings. The band claimed it had nothing to do with far-right politics and that it was simply “pure black metal”.
Obtained Enslavement – Centuries of Sorrow CD 1994 Likstøy Music – oe 941 – This band is fairly obscure. This release hasn’t been reissued many times, but what makes it so valuable is that the originals are nearly impossible to find.
Value $125
Gris – Il Était Une Forêt… CD
Gris – Il Était Une Forêt… CD 2007 Sepulchral Productions – SP008 – This depressive black metal gem from Canada will put a nice hole in your bank account.
Value $100
Gorgoroth – Pentagram CD
Gorgoroth – Pentagram CD 1994 Wild Rags Records – WRR 061 [1st Press US]– Wild Rags Records was an iconic Southern California record store and label that released a great number of important underground releases in the 1990s. It has subsequently gone out of business. Many of the bands on Wild Rags roster went on to do huge things.
Mayhem – Deathcrush CD
Mayhem – Deathcrush CD 1994 Deathlike Silence – DSP Anti-Mosh 003 [1st Press] – this debut by Mayhem has over 100 different versions, many of which are hard to distinguish. The first pressing is the one shown above from Deathlike Silence Records. You can recognize it because it does not have a barcode, while many of the early all-DLS repressings, including some from that same year, do.
We are late in publishing this list as we did our top-selling albums from last year. Based on the posts you see on this blog, you might think we only buy used heavy metal LP and CD collections. That is far from the truth. We buy brand-new CDs, LPs, and cassettes from a growing network of labels and distributors. We buy so much; brand-new music accounts for over 50% of our sales. These are our top-selling albums from 2024.
Mercyful Fate – Don’t Break The Oath CD 2020 Metal Blade – [Gatefold Digipak]
A seller in New York hit me up years ago, wanting to sell these CDs. Honestly, I didn’t do a great job on the offer. I offered him $4600 for this collection of what was supposed to be 2000 CDs. I should have bid higher.
We went back and forth over the price; he correctly thought it was low. After some negotiation, he told me he wanted me to go to Western Union or wire him the money. When I do business with someone, I always like to use PayPal so we can enable buyer-seller protection. It acts as an escrow between the buyer and the seller, keeping me locked into the deal while keeping the seller honest. If something goes wrong, PayPal is there to cover it. I have tried other methods to facilitate a deal like this and never have found better. Just sending someone thousands of dollars and hoping they send you what they promise is the oldest scam on the Internet.
Deal In Limbo
In limbo is where the deal sat for almost 2 years; the guy finally hit me up a few months ago and said he still wanted to sell the CDs and was willing to accept my offer. He then said he had the same issues with PayPal and could not get his account going again. I told him that if he were willing to send me the CDs, I would pay him for them if they were what he said they were. I pointed out that I have a well-respected career as someone who buys heavy metal albums and CD collections.
He then sent me the CDs through media mail. They were packed OK, but were a bit dusty. The playing surfaces were all pristine; many cracked cases needed replacement. The actual count of the CDs was only 1400, not the 2000 that he thought it was. Overestimating the collection size is a common issue when buying collections; people often think they have more than they actually do.
Even with the numbers not being precisely right, this is still a great deal. $4600 was a fair price. The cost per unit totaled $3.28, which is still great. I would’ve paid even more for them now, as there were many rare and out-of-print CDs from the 1990s to the 2000s, many of which were worth up to $50, a few even more than that. I compiled a list of the best and brightest below.

Do You Have A Heavy Collection Like This To Sell?
eI am always on the hunt to aquire new black, heavy metal, punk rock and death metal collections of any size. None is too expesive.
Below is a tour of an awesome CD collection I bought locally in LA. Unlike many metal CD collections I purchase, I didn’t do this through the mail. The local seller came to my business, I saw the CDs before buying and paid him in cash. This was much simpler than my typical out-of-state or even out-of-country transactions.
The collection consisted of almost 700 death and black Metal CDs ranging from the 1980s to current bands. The guy had great taste in music, and there was no cheesy metal in this batch. The only problem was that he initially asked for $5000 for the whole lot, which was expensive. While I could have bought them for this much, it wouldn’t have been worth my time / paying for help to list them. I told him that if he wanted that kind of cash (as opposed to PayPal), he would be best off selling them individually on eBay, and he would earn that after a year or two of work. It is also important to remember that no matter how great your CD collection is, about 40% of it will never sell.
Below are some of my favorite and most valuable CDs from this collection, along with some approximate values.
Imprecation – Theurgia Goetia Summa CD
Screenshot
Imprecation – Theurgia Goetia Summa CD 1996 Repulse Records – RPS 012 – released in 1996, this album is a compilation of the band’s earlier material, demos, and 7-inch singles. Imprecation is an absolutely killer Texas death metal band that is still active to this day.

Deicide—Deicide CD 1990 R/C Records—RCD 9381 [1st Press] – The first pressings of the debut Deicide CD are hard to find because it was popular and repressed many times early in its release. I included a picture of the back of the CD to show you what an actual first pressing looks like.

Sodom – In The Sign Of Evil CD
Screenshot
Sodom—In The Sign Of Evil CD 1988 Steamhammer—SHCD 4004 [First Press] *DE — While this Sodom EP was originally released in 1984, it never saw an official CD pressing until 1988 and is very rare and valuable.

Have A Metal Collection Like This You Want To Sell?
There were a couple of stand-out things about this collection.
Rare Unofficial Iron Maiden CDs
The first was a crazy selection of sealed Iron Maiden bootlegs. Ten CDs recorded from the Legacy of The Beast Tour 2019 in various cities were sealed, and some very impressive artwork included that I could have sworn was painted by Derek Riggs himself.
Unfortunately, these Iron Maiden CDs are unofficial and can’t be sold in my eBay store, but you can pick them up from me directly if you contact me. I will give you a great deal on the whole lot.
Rare Blackmoon Records Black Metal CD
Next up is the extremely rare Blackmoon Records from Poland. Like the Iron Maiden, all of these CDs are technically “unofficial,” but you can get away with selling these on eBay because of bands like Horna, Moonblood, and Sargeist. One interesting thing about Moonblood is that even though they are a legendary black metal band, everything they released until 2014 was a bootleg of demo recordings.
When I was a kid, my parents only listened to very lame music like Barbra Streisand. Props to this guy for listening to some very based black metal and killer Iron Maiden. While it is very sad that this true metal warrior has moved on to Valhalla, his music will live on.
Do You Have A Collection Like This To Sell?
I am always looking to buy collections like this, no matter where you are in the Uniited States or the world.
Below are some highlights from a relatively small collection of CDs I bought from a private collector.
Even though this black and death metal CD collection is much smaller than the ones I usually get, I paid the guy $700 for it because a few rare/valuable CDs were included. Some of the conditions of the playing surfaces of some discs could have been better.
I am only interested in VG and up when buying metal CD collections. Many people think that “if the CD will play all the way through without skipping” means it is in very good condition, but this is not true. CDs with significant marks become worth substantially less and lose much resale value. If you want to grade your CDs, more information can be found here.
Highlights From This Collection

Enslaved – Vikingligr Veldi CD 1994 Deathlike Silence – Anti Mosh 008 [EARLY] – The first press from this Norwegian death metal band has no white space on the back cover, which is about the same size as a bar code. The subsequent repress has this. Regardless of which version you have, they are both worth a ton. Enslaved is still active, touring, and is releasing new material.
Price $149.95
2) Dawn – Nær Solen Gar Niþer For Evogher CD
Dawn – Nær Solen Gar Niþer For Evogher CD 1994 Necropolis – NR 006 ORIGINAL – All of the 90s albums, Swedish melodic-death metal band Dawn, are extremely expensive. Even the reissues cost quite a bit and sell out immediately. If you have never listened to Dawn, I highly recommend you do.
Price $159.95
1) Weakling – Dead As Dreams CD
Weakling – Dead As Dreams CD 2000 tUMULt – tm 17 – American Black Metallers Weakling released only one studio album besides a rehearsal recording. Weakling became quite popular posthumously due to their early 2000s breakup. This CD is a cult classic and is damn near impossible to find.

Do You Have Rare Metal CDs Like This that You Would Like To Sell?
I am always looking to buy heavy metal CDs and record collections. Hit me up if you want to get top dollar for them.
I just bought a crazy black metal collection from France with numerous “Holy Grail” records that collectors dream about owning and some of the most expensive pieces I’ve ever acquired. Starting in late 2022, I’d been talking to a French black metal musician (who shall remain unnamed) about acquiring his black metal records and CDs. It took a few months to work out the deal. Next, I appraised and made an offer on the collection based on a series of photos sent to me over WhatsApp. Finally, we agreed to a fair price and made shipping plans after I issued him the money through PayPal.
As always, I agreed to pick up the shipping charges. We chose DHL France as the shipping service. Unfortunately, post-pandemic shipping prices have increased dramatically, almost double what they were previously, and some new security restrictions made this transaction section a bit more complicated. Once shipping issues were sorted out, the records arrived quickly (in less than five days).
I had some concerns about the condition of some of the vinyl, but once I started sorting through the collection, my fears were assuaged. While the stuff in it was far from “near mint” it was average VG+; there were numerous scarce titles I have never had before and may never have again.

Breakdown Of The Gems
Here is a breakdown of some select gems, and there are many insane ones, starting with…
Darkthrone – A Blaze In The Northern Sky LP 1992 White Label Test Press – Darkthrone – A Blaze In The Northern Sky LP 1992 White Label Test Press – Original copies of “A Blaze In The Northern Sky” are rare enough, but how about this test pressing? At this point, very few of these still exist, nevermind are for sale. This piece is a true rarity.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $1000 USD
Darkthrone – A Blaze In The Northern Sky LP 1992 Peaceville – VILE 28 UK – While this record has been repressed and reissued hundreds of times, the initial run by Peaceville Records was relatively small, making the first pressing of the album quite pricey.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $800 USD
Beherit – Drawing Down The Moon LP 1993 Spinefarm Records – SPI 14 – The original run of this cult-classic black/death metal masterpiece was also relatively small, making it quite pricey.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $700 USD
Hypocrisy – Osculum Obscenum LP 1993 Nuclear Blast NB 080-1 – Hypocrisy – Osculum Obscenum LP 1993 Nuclear Blast NB 080-1 – Extremely rare transparent yellow first pressing of this album was strictly limited to 1000 copies and very rare.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $700 USD
Dissection – Storm Of The Light’s Bane LP 1998 Nuclear Blast [Blue Vinyl] – A true Holy Grail if there ever was one. While an early reissue and not a first pressing of this black metal classic, this 1998 press from Nuclear Blast mailorder was limited to 500 copies and is mega-rare! Even more recent reissues of “Storm of the Lights” bane can fetch $200-$300 a week after they sell out. The first pressings now will run you about $1000.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $700 USD
Nifelheim – Nifelheim LP 1996 Necropolis Records – NR 007 – This was by far the best album from this band. Original CDs can average around $60; as you can see, the vinyl isn’t cheap either.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $600 USD
Dødheimsgard – Monumental Possession LP 1996 Malicious Records MR010 – While I am not totally familiar with this band, it doesn’t stop their records from costing an arm and a leg.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $600 USD
Beherit – The Oath Of Black Blood LP 1991 Turbo Music – Beherit’s debut album was a very limited run and is almost impossible to come by.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $400 USD
Deicide – Legion LP 1992 R/C Records – RC 9192-1 – The fact that this album is fully autographed by the lineup that played on it certainly adds to the value of this one. Considering the animosity between Glen Benton and the Hoffman brothers, you will never get the four of them in a room to sign another copy like this.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $400 USD
Vader – The Ultimate Incantation LP 1992 Earache – MOSH 59 – A great album by a great band; even recent represses of this get expensive.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $400 USD
Sarcófago – I.N.R.I. LP 1987 Cogumelo Produções – COG007 – In my opinion, one of the most influential metal bands ever. Brazil’s Sarcofago has been credited by many as the inventor of grindcore and the bridge between death metal and black metal — another “Holy Grail” for sure.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $400 USD
Dismember – Like An Ever Flowing Stream LP 1991 Nuclear Blast – NB 047 – This album is an essential from the Golden Age Of Death Metal (1990-1995), and the first pressing is hard to score.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $400 USD
Amorphis – The Karelian Isthmus LP 1993 Nuclear Blast – NB 072 – Another offering from the Golden Age of Death Metal – this limited run of 1000 colored vinyl is highly sought after by collectors.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $370 USD
Sodom – Tapping the Vein LP 1992 Steamhammer – SPV 008 – You can argue that this is far from the best album by Sodom, but like many albums from the 1990s, the limited runs make it quite rare and high-dollar.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $350 USD
Krisiun / Viollent Hate – Curse Of The Evil One LP 1993 Dynamo Brazilie – DYN005 – This Brazilian split LP would be the first time the world would hear the brutal black/death metal attack of Krisiun and make it another “Holy Grail” album.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $350 USD
Dissection – Somberlain LP 1996 Nuclear Blast NFR 006 – Picture disc version of Dissection’s second album and a huge deal.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $350 USD
Morbid Angel – Blessed Are The Sick LP 1991 White Label Test Pressing –
Last but not least, a test pressing of what some people consider Morbid Angel’s finest work, “Blessed Are The Sick”. You will be hard-pressed to find this one anywhere.
Condition VG+/VG+ Value $350 USD
There are many other considerable gems in this collection, but these are the 20-or-so standouts; check out my video at the top of the page for a video tour.
