This video shows a crazy rare collection of black and death metal CDs from the 90s thru 2000s that I bought from a collector in Sweden. There is a ton of crazy out-of-print stuff from labels that are now out of business in Europe. However, many of these CDs have since been reissued by Metal Blade, Napalm, Century Media, and others. You can get many of these reissues, but the originals are easily worth 20-50 dollars (sometimes less, sometimes more).
I didn’t have time to put together a complete list for this month’s blog update, but you can see all of them in the video, and I have taken some time to highlight a few of the best ones I’ve found from this collection.
Big CDs In This Collection
Monstrosity – Imperial Doom CD
Monstrosity – Imperial Doom CD 1992 Nuclear Blast – NB 055 CD [ORIGINAL PRESS] – Monstrosity was a death metal band that became the jump-off point for many death metal musicians, most famously, George “Corpsegrinder” who is currently fronting Cannibal Corpse, which is probably what makes this CD worth so much. This CD goes on eBay / Discogs for north of 100 dollars.
Mayhem: Deathcrush CD
Mayhem: Deathcrush CD 1994 Deathlike Silence – DSP Anti-Mosh 003 NORWAY – Mayhem’s debut EP. While is technically a reissue, this was the first time this album came out officially on CD. This item is heavily counterfeited and reissued. Only the first press had no barcode on the tray card.
Thornium – Dominions Of The Eclipse CD
Thornium – Dominions Of The Eclipse CD 1995 Necromantic – NGP 005 Netherlands – Recorded in 1994 this release from the Swedish black metal band Thornium is worth around 100 bucks. I’m not sure why, it just is!
Behemoth – And The Forests Dream Eternally CD
Behemoth – And The Forests Dream Eternally CD 1995 Entropy – DE 101MCD *Italy – Minialbum released very early in their career and never reissued to the mid-2000s. Song #4 “Evil and Hate” is a tribute to Bathory.

This article is a continuation of my 2020 blog post detailing the most expensive metal CDs that we have had first-hand experience with from buying a lot of heavy metal CD collections. For the 2021 update, I have expanded the list to 25 because we’ve grown considerably as a business. The values assigned to each are based on amounts we have sold them for and are not an aggregate. All CDS from the 2020 blog post have also been excluded from this list, but you can view the archive here.
Krabathor – Cool Mortification CD 1993 Monitor – 010174-2331 (Czech Republic) – This CD is rare and HEAVILY counterfeited — there are very few real ones floating around. Some counterfeits even mimic the runout matrix, but if the ring does not look exactly like this, it is fake.

Looking To Buy CDS?
I am the largest seller of heaven metal albums and CDs on Ebay. Visit my store here.
The video below is just a portion of a rare metal and punk vinyl collection I valued at approximately $120,000. I recently bought it from a private collector here in Los Angeles.
This epic record collection consisted of around 3500 12″ LPs and 1000 7″ singles. Since the start of COVID, most of the records I have been buying have all been internationally, but this collection I found locally in Los Angeles. After some negotiation with the seller, this purchase was by far my largest, which I picked up for $67,000.
The Anatomy Of A Deal
In the weeks leading up to the purchase, the seller allowed me to appraise the albums one by one (which took me over a week to do). I entered them all in notebooks. You can see an example of my appraisal below.
Albums are hot right now. Unfortunately, some collectors have an unrealistic idea of what they are worth, but as a buyer, you need to spend a lot of money to buy good collections of rare metal and punk albums. Therefore, I tailor my offers to be at least 50% of the total value as a rule of thumb. I am negotiable up to roughly 60%, but it can be higher under rare circumstances. Above 70% of the total value, the seller would make the same amount of money selling them on eBay individually.
Also, remember that even if the seller were selling it to another party that wasn’t a reseller, the buyer wouldn’t pay the total price for every album; there would be some discount.
Here are some photos from the gem vinyl in the video above. The first video is less than 20% of the collection. I will update this post or create a new one to showcase some of the records. Unfortueny, I can’t make a complete list as I did here of all of them, but feel free to contact me if you are looking for something specific.
Collection Highlights
Some of the my favorite pieces in this collection are as follows. I have timestamped some of the links to take you to exactly the spot in the video where these metal and punk LP appear.
The standout in the collection was three copies of Death’s “Scream Bloody Gore” (all original 1987 pressings). In addition, the was one original U.S. Combat Records pressing, one Under One Flag European pressing, and one French pressing on N.E.W. Musicdisc. The complete list of records is in the list below.
The bulk was an impressive selection of death metal CDs, including many very rare and expensive ones, also in the list below.

While doing deals in Europe is slightly more complex than domestic deal they can be done all the same. The last few have been done by email only. This buy stated simply from the guy sending me the list above and this message, “Hi Jason, I’m in the UK and have a number of albums I am looking to sell. Please get in touch so we can discuss what I have to sell.”
The original owner sent me the photos below and I paid him via Paypal.
This is a killer super-rare vinyl collection I just bought from a guy in Europe. The original owner contacted me through my blog, and we exchanged emails over a few weeks. It took a bit to get comfortable with wiring thousand of dollars overseas to someone I didn’t know, but I buy heavy metal record and CD collections all the time, and I’ve never had an issue.
The embed video is a walkthru of everything included in this epic thrash metal collection, which consisted of 177 albums. Included, were about 15 of them were non-thrash guitar nerd albums, so I removed them to stick to the thrash for this video.
Video Walkthru
Photo Gallery
Below is a photo gallery of some of the standouts, although most of them were pretty epic. The vinyl was at worst VG+ and quite a bit isEX / NM. The original owner stored all of these albums in protective sleeves, so the album jacket quality is impressive, 95% being VG+ to NM.
Unboxing Video
We filmed this video as I unboxed the album collection for the first time when it first arrived from Belgium
So mush suspense!
List Of Titles
I had a good idea of what titles were included in this collection, although to be honest, I was not 100% sure either! The original owner never compiled a list. He hand-wrote lists of the titles in this collection of paper and then emailed me photos. (see below)
This list is compiled from CD acquired while buying metal CD collections in the year of 2020. It is by no means a comprehensive list of every metal CD out there, these are just ones we have first-hand experience with. The values we had assigned is is based what we have sold them for and is not an aggregate.
1. Urn – 666 Megatons CD 2006 No Sign Of Life – NSOL001
Urn – 666 Megatons CD 2006 No Sign Of Life – NSOL00 – the special edition from this Finish thrash/black metal band that includes the DVD is RARE. Urn was a cool proto-Black Metal sound similar to “Show NoMercy” era Slayer – the full edition which includes a live DVD is almost impossible to find and goes for north of 100 bucks on a regular basis.

2. The Black – The Priest Of Satan CD 1994 Necropolis Records NR 003

3. Swans – Swans Are Dead CD 1998 Young God Records – YG03
Swans – Swans Are Dead CD 1998 Young God Records – YG03 – although The Swans are not technically a metal band, it is quite common to see their brand of gothic rock to be turning up in collections we buy. Original pressing of their CDs are very hard to come by and re-issues aren’t that common either, making most every CD in their catalog quite valuable.
Sold 8/8 – $79.95
4. Ingested – The Surreption CD 2012 Siege of Amida Records
Ingested – The Surreption CD 2012 Siege of Amida Records – I will be honest when I first saw this one I thought it might be a fluke, but upon some investigation copies of those are really scarce and sell for north of $100 on Discogs on a monthly basis. It is also worth noting that Ingested sounds like a $99 per CD band, they play some ridiculously tight technical death metal and are one of my new favorites.
Sold 12/29 – $99.95
5. Xibalba – Ah Dzam Poop Ek CD 2005 Guttural Records – CDGR002
Xibalba – Ah Dzam Poop Ek CD 2005 Guttural Records – CDGR002 Mexico – the original pricing from Mexico only list eight tracks, there are later reissues, but if you can find the first one it is quite valuable.

7. Devourment – Molesting The Decapitated CD 1999 United Guttural UGR 005
Devourment – Molesting The Decapitated CD 1999 United Guttural UGR 005 – I was actually surprised that this one didn’t sell for more, this is the original version of this death metal classic from this brutal Texas-based outfit. Beware, there are many bootlegs floating around of this release.
Sold 8/9 $74.95
8. Suffocation – Effigy of the Forgotten/Pierced from Within CD 2003 Roadrunner
Suffocation – Effigy of the Forgotten/Pierced from Within 2x CD 2003 Roadrunner (2 From The Vault Series) – almost all of the CDs from Roadrunner’s discontinued “2 From The Vault” series fetch a pretty penny. Some other big ones to look for are Obituary and Exhorder.
Sold 7/7 – $74.95
9. Ancient Wisdom – For Snow Covered The Northland CD 1996 Avantgarde Music
Ancient Wisdom – For Snow Covered The Northland CD 1996 Avantgarde Music – this CD from this summer obscure but extremely talented Italian progressive black metal band is extremely hard to find, not to mention the music is amazing. These guys should’ve been much bigger!
Sold 6/6/ – $69.95
10. Amebix – No Sanctuary: The Spiderleg Recordings CD 2008 Revolver USA
Amebix – No Sanctuary: The Spiderleg Recordings CD [Digipak] 2008 Revolver USA – although this one might fall more into the crust punk genre, Ambix is still quite popular among the metal crown. This gym was in wider distribution on Alternative Tentaclesbut if you can find the original it’s worth quite a bit.
